The complete weekly pool maintenance checklist

What a proper pool service visit should actually include — and how to tell if your current provider is doing the bare minimum.

The non-negotiables: every visit, every week

A legitimate weekly pool service visit should take 30–60 minutes depending on pool size. If your technician is in and out in 10 minutes, they're cutting corners. Here's what should happen every single visit:

✓ Full vacuum — floor, walls, and steps. Not just a quick pass.
✓ Empty all skimmer baskets — and the pump strainer basket
✓ Skim the waterline — remove floating debris and surface film
✓ Brush walls and tile line — prevents algae from anchoring
✓ Test water chemistry — pH, chlorine, alkalinity at minimum
✓ Adjust chemicals — based on actual test results, not guesswork
✓ Inspect filter pressure — clean or backwash if needed
✓ Check equipment — pump, filter, heater for unusual noise or leaks

Premium maintenance adds these

Our Deluxe maintenance plan ($130+/week) goes beyond the basics with full chemical balancing using Taylor test kits and photometer testing, complete system diagnostics every visit, leaf blowing around the pool deck, and LSI-balanced water chemistry that protects your equipment.

Signs your current service is cutting corners

Visits take less than 15 minutes. You still see debris on the pool floor after they leave. Your water chemistry swings wildly between visits. They can't tell you your current pH or chlorine level. They never clean or inspect the filter. You find out about equipment problems only after something breaks.

If any of this sounds familiar, it might be time for a change. We serve homeowners across Peabody, Danvers, Beverly, Salem, Saugus, Lynnfield, and Middleton.
